Masturbation habits increase Prostate Risk in 20s, but lower the risk in 50`s
Latest prostate cancer information is related to the habit of masturbation which suspected has relationship with prostate cancer incidence. It was reported that the habit of masturbation in 20`s will increase the incidence of prostate cancer risk, but if the habit is done at the age of 50 years or over, masturbation habits could reduce the incidence of prostate cancer.
Researchers obtained 840 persons detailed sexual history, half of them got prostate cancer by age 60, and about half did not.
Result of this research was very controversial, that the sexual intercourse did not influence the risk of prostate cancer but masturbation habits did, with different results if conducted at different ages.
Dimitropoulou, MD, one of the reseachers says “for men in their 20s, who masturbate 2-7 times per week, has increase 79% risk of prostate cancer incidence in their 60`s age. However, for men who masturbate in age of 50 or over frequently will have lower incidence of prostate cancer to 70% .
They argue that young people are genetically inclined to have hormone-sensitive to prostate cancer. Especially if their bodies produce a high androgen levels, triggered by intense sex drive. So it was not masturbation itself that increases the risk of prostate cancer in young men, but the androgens.
However, in older men, masturbation itself can actually help remove the prostate gland fluids that may contain cancer-causing substances.
Coffee and reduction risk of Prostate Cancer
Another prostate cancer information saying that the more you drink coffee then you will be protected from prostate cancer, this rumor was later answered with a research which found that there is less significant correlation between the number of cups of coffee drunk per day with a reduction of prostate cancer risk.
Kathryn M. Wilson, a researcher from Harvard explains that ” I would not recommend people change on their coffee-drinking habits based on this study,” said,. “But if you like coffee, ‘there is no compelling reason to cut back at this point.”
The studies showed that people who consume six or more cups of coffee a day, show approximately 19 % reduction in prostate cancer risk, but in aggressive form of prostate cancer is about 41%.
The caffeine contained in coffee has nothing to do at all, since decaffeinated coffee also have shown similar results. Wilson added to obtain accurate information about prostate cancer further research is still needed.
